Abstract

Indian folk art is an effective medium for the socioeconomic empowerment of women. Arts like Madhubani, Warli, Phad, weaving, embroidery, and clay crafts have provided livelihood opportunities for women. The commercialization of these arts has made women economically independent and increased their self-esteem and social participation. Folk art not only preserves tradition and culture, but also gives women recognition and respect. In this way, folk art liberates women from dependency and leads them towards self-reliance and equality, which is considered the foundation of social change and progress.
